Summer Sound Waves Outdoor Relaxation Experience: sound bath, sensory swings, and smart bar

  • Crimson-Catskills 24 Hasbrouck Lane Woodstock, NY, 12498 United States (map)

Join us for a unique and rejuvenating outdoor wellness event, set in a pine grove on the grounds of what was once part of the original Maverick Arts Colony in Woodstock, NY.

This collaboration between Rosie McCobb of Crimson Catskills and Jennifer Muir-Braunstein of Spiraling Heart Sound features a relaxing, intentionally-designed gathering space, and a 75-minute sound bath and guided meditation session starting at 6PM.

Summer SoundWaves is a convenient, after-work reset for anyone in need of stress relief. It will appeal to those seeking a relaxing atmosphere, and those looking to keep up with a deeper, regular meditation and sound healing practice. Both beginners and advanced devotees in sound practices are welcome, and our program is suitable for average health and cardiovascular capabilities. This is mainly intended for adults, but older children and teens are welcome if they are interested in the program, and able to be still and quiet during the formal sound and meditation program.

Located just one mile outside of Woodstock Village on a short, dead end road that leads to a lovely, unobstructed view of Overlook Mountain, participants may arrive anytime from 5:30 onward to take a walk up the road to gaze at the mountain, or to relax on our grounds. Enjoy the shade and light breezes between the trees in a hammock or sensory swing, or cool off with a blended herbal or seasonal cold beverage from our smart bar. We hope you’ll come and hang for a bit, and help build positive, in-person social connections and community.

Program Fee: $25, adults, $18 for 18 and under.

In-Need Sliding fee is available.

Since this is an outdoor event, it is weather permitting. Please check hourly weather alerts for the day. We will proceed with the program if no rain is forecast between the hours of 2PM and 8PM, day-of program. Any pre-reservations due to weather cancellation will be refunded or honored at a future Summer SoundWaves program.

Yoga blankets and lawn chairs will be provided, and we have a limited quantity of mats. Please bring your own mats or any additional comfort items you require to lay on the earth for the sound bath.

We light a fire in the firepit and have allergy-sensitive anti-bug torches to ward off bugs and mosquitos; so far, bugs have not been a nuisance during the program. But, this is the Catskills, so please be mindful there are all sorts of outdoor creatures: you just may see a mama bear and her two cubs amble on by in the distance!

Parking is on-street: you may park on the side of the road, just past the dirt driveway to our location (please be mindful of French drains along some parts of the side of the road). There are also two small “cut out” lots near the lower quarry area that will accommodate a few cars, with a short 2-3 minute walk up to our location.

Our grounds are wheelchair accessible; unfortunately our bathroom is not. Please contact us directly to discuss anything that will help make it possible for you to enjoy this event!

Meet the Players

Jennifer Muir-Braunstein of Spiraling Heart Sound

Jennifer Muir-Braunstein works with groups and individuals to provide a form of mind, body, and energetic health that all starts with sound. She utilizes the healing vibrations of medical/spa grade Tibetan bowls and other instruments, both directly on and in the space around the body.

Sound vibrations have been medically proven to change brain patterns and the quality of the nervous system, and have been used in controlled practices to “heal” everything from contaminated water, to kidney stones. Jennifer seeks to provide a direct and accessible channel through which the body’s innate healing wisdom can open and thrive.

Jennifer books sessions at Menla retreat and spa center in Phoenicia, NY and through her work with the Sunset Healing Collective in New Paltz, NY. She also offers regular workshops at area wellness studios in a collaboration with Reiki practitioner Cory Smith. It is intended to help those trying to process grief, and for anyone who wants to develop a more accepting, holistic relationship with death. Rosie McCobb of Crimson Catskills

Rosie McCobb grew up in rural Massachusetts, and spent her childhood outdoors making art projects, playing sports, and caring for horses. She studied music and played in an orchestra as a tween, DJ’ed at her high school radio station, and worked as a journalist in the music and nightclub world before becoming a film and photography director specializing in art, interior design, and expressionistic personal work.

She began meditating and attending sound baths in 2018, and re-acclimated herself with the work and ideas of Carl Jung, which she studied as a psychology minor in college. From then, onward, Rosie studied and personally sampled a wide variety of art therapy, music, movement, sound healing, breath work, wellness, and spiritual practices intended to rebalance and strengthen brain, body, psychological, creative, and spiritual health. She started Crimson Catskills as a means to provide artistic, holistic, and intentionally-designed spaces, experiences, and events.

Rosie is a fan of electronic dance music, jazz, and Native American drumming, as these forms of music - in particular - provide a means through which a physically-uplifting flow or trance state can be achieved. This is her first season of formally playing and offering sound healing to Crimson pop-up guests with Jennifer Muir-Braunstein.
